IonFocus™ ESI Probe
In the new IonFocus system, ions are propelled into the LCMS-8060NX with the greatest efficiency while neutral particles are expelled to reduce noise and provide the highest stability. A new heat assist design increases desolvation efficiency and promotes superior ionization of a wide range of compounds (patented technology).

Easy Maintenance Interface
Shimadzu engineering means attention to detail. Consumable parts like the ESI spray needle and the inlet desolvation line (DL) can be changed quickly and easily without breaking vacuum. Ion optics in the vacuum chamber can be removed simply and without tools for easy cleaning.

Robustness and Ease of Use
Maximized Sensitivity, Minimized Matrix Effects
Shimadzu’s new IonFocus system propels analyte ions towards the MS inlet while ejecting neutrals which contribute to matrix effects. Using the LCMS-8060NX’s world-leading polarity switching speed and data acquisition rate, residual pesticides and herbicides were analyzed in tea leaves. The chromatograms below show the data enhancement obtained as the IonFocus lenses introduce ions into the mass spectrometer more efficiently, improving the signal intensity. Of the 100 compounds tested, 96% showed excellent recoveries.
Robust Performance for Higher Throughput
The LCMS-8060NX employs new ion guides, the UF-Qarray II and the UF-Lens II, to increase robustness while maintaining high ion transmission efficiency. Improved robustness means higher laboratory throughput as maintenance interval times increase.
The urine metabolite data shown below provides confidence for the analysis of biological matrices. After the analysis of 1000 urine samples, prepared only by dilution with water, the LCMS-8060NX delivers superior data stability without loss of sensitivity.
Intelligent Operational Parameters
Designed for easy operation, the LCMS-8060NX incorporates optimized parameters based on AI research that enable high sensitivity without manual optimization. Out-of-the-box LCMS-8060NX performance has been improved an average of 2.6 times for a variety of analytes, making the job of method development that much easier.

A new heat-assisted design improves the desolvation efficiency and dramatically enhances the sensitivity for challenging molecules such as steroid hormones.
Intelligent Automation Improves Workflow Efficiency
Intelligent Start-up with Smart Flow Control
HPLC columns can be damaged by sudden pump starts and stops or extreme gradient changes. The new Nexera automatically uses FlowPilot (Smart Flow Control) to increase the flow rate gradually to the set point. There is no need to create startup protocols for each analysis.
Streamlined Data Review
Configurable displays for multiple chromatograms, color-coded flags to highlight results that are out of range, and standard report templates all enable the laboratory technician to process samples quickly and correctly.
Automatic Optimization of MS Conditions
Simply set the sample in place and enter the sample information, and MRM and interface parameter optimization will be carried out automatically. The optimization results are shown graphically, reducing the time and effort needed for evaluation.
LC/MS/MS Method Packages and MRM Libraries
Several method packages are available for quick method startup. Analysis can begin right away without MRM optimization or tedious method development.
Advanced Autosampler Functions
The SIL-40 autosampler has programable micro-volume liquid handling capabilities. Apply these sample pretreatment parameters from a simple graphic interface, reducing labor and increasing precision in derivatization, co-injection, etc.

Automatically stay organized with LabSolutions Connect’s file management system. File locations are automatically determined by file type, enabling the technician to carry out analysis or data processing without having to remember file paths. In addition, LabSolutions Connect makes comprehensive MS optimization possible. MRM parameters, such as precursor ion selection, collision energy voltage, and product ion selection, are automated, and Connect software performs intelligent, stepwise optimization of the interface voltage, gas flows, and source temperatures.
